GIANT List of Companies That Test on Animals

Trying to avoid companies that test on animals? This up-to-date list will tell you exactly which products, brands, and companies to avoid when shopping cruelty-free and vegan.

This is different from other cruelty-free lists because it includes so-called “cruelty-free” brands owned by a parent company that conducts tests on animals for any of its other brands.

Many companies market themselves as “cruelty-free” (some even have cruelty-free certification), but they’re not telling you the whole story. These companies are marked “(learn more)” for more information on why they’re included on my list of companies that tests on animals.

How to use this list

COMPANIES AND BRANDS ON THIS LIST SHOULD BE AVOIDED WHEN SHOPPING.

Locate the items in your home from these brands, then find cruelty-free alternatives using my List of Cruelty-Free & Vegan Brands.

See a company or brand you think doesn’t belong on this list?

Most likely, they’re included on my List of FAKE “Cruelty-Free” Brands.

  • Thank you so much for putting doing the research and putting this list together. I like to think that I avoid companies that test their products on animals. However, I was surprised to see some companies that I’ve purchased products of on the list (i.e. Seventh Generation). If you love animals, please do not spend your dollars on companies that harm animals. By doing so, you are telling those companies that they can keep torturing innocent beings. Remember that you have options. There are other companies that you can patronize that are in line with your values. Please spread the word.

    • Thank you so much for your comment 🙂

To be clear, Seventh Generation doesn’t test on animals but their parent company (Unilever) does test on animals, which is why they’re included in my list (since money given to Seventh Generation does find its way to Unilever).

It’s true, there are so many companies that are not owned by a parent company that tests on animals (and also don’t test on animals for their own company either). We should support ethical companies over unethical ones whenever we possibly can.

  • I have been looking for a mop or something like it for my laminate “wood” floors and can’t find information on animal-testing philosophies for several cleaning product companies. There’s a brand sold at Giant (my local grocery store) called Libman but I can’t find animal testing info on them anywhere on the internet. Are you familiar with them, and if not, can you recommend a company that’s cruelty free and vegan that sells mops? Thanks!

  • Are there any animal care companies whose products don’t test on animals? I need dental wipes for my dogs and most companies that make products for animals do test on animals..

    • Isn’t that the one situation when products SHOULD be tested on animals? Obviously it should be done in the most humane way possible and I’m sure it’s not, sadly, but isn’t it worse if they release a product that harms thousands of animals because they didn’t test it on a few first?

If you buy dental wipes for your dog from a company that didn’t test them, you have no way of knowing if it’s made of a combination of ingredients that are safe for dogs (the ingredients might be safe individually but have an unexpected reaction when put together, or it might be a new ingredient that has never been used in a dog product before), or the design could be problematic (e.g. if they added a material intended to clean the dog’s teeth more effectively but it actually tears their gums), and so on.

      • By your logic then it should be okay to test human products on humans just in case a combination of ingredients is unsafe? Hmm…

  • Hi , I love animals with all my heart and I’m against this too but how many of you wear ANY type of leather ,shoes , wallets ,purses, belts ,gloves etc ? That’s being hypocritical in my opinion ! Bless all Gods creatures ❤️

    • We should all strive to eliminate any and all avoidable animal-derived products/ingredients/etc. from our lives. When we are given the opportunity to be better, we should do exactly that. (That opportunity comes from seeking out / being open to the necessary information and then from self-reflection.)

  • Thank you for all this information, but it is very overwhelming meaning basically everyone tests on animals. Any chance you can provide info to what companies, brands don’t test on animals at all in any sense??
